Chevrolet Captiva is a compact SUV from South Korean automaker General Motors. Based on the GM Theta, which was used in many other cars. For example, Opel Antara, Daewoo Winstorm. Body type – five-door SUV. Produced from 2006 to the present. In 2010, the car went through a restyling. The exterior and interior design have been updated, the chassis has changed – the suspension, spring stiffness have been improved and anti-roll bars have been replaced.

Medium-sized crossovers with gasoline engines, which are located transversely, are supplied to the domestic market. Volume 2.4 and 3.2 liters, power 167 and 230 hp. respectively. In the line of power units there is also a turbocharged diesel engine 2.2 l 184 hp.

The first generation uses a manual and five-speed automatic transmission. In the second, a six-speed automatic transmission appeared.

Weaknesses of the Chevrolet Captiva

SALON

Finishing materials are budgetary, which negatively affects the service life. In addition, the build quality of the interior does not differ in quality: after some time of operation of the car, the driver’s seat loosens. With a sharp temperature difference between the roof and the upholstery, condensate appears, which then accumulates in the ceiling lighting and the fifth door clip. Pay attention to these details when choosing a used car.

ENGINE

In a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine, a drive with a metal chain that does not live up to expectations and lasts exactly the same as the belt – about 90,000 km. Signs: deterioration in acceleration dynamics, uncharacteristic sound of the motor, error on the on-board computer.

The crossover has low fuel consumption. The most economical diesel power plant with a volume of 2.2 liters. Fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer is only 8 liters per 100 km when driving in the city, on the highway – 6 liters. We are talking about front-wheel drive modifications of the car. In all-wheel drive, the numbers are slightly higher – 8 – 10 liters. Cars with a 2.4-liter gasoline engine consume more fuel – 9 liters in urban mode, 11 liters on the highway. The fuel consumption of the engine is 3.2 liters 12 – 15 liters per 100 km.

TRANSMISSION

Of all the transmissions, the most problematic can be the automatic transmission, which has a habit of overheating. And on the very first copies there are problems with the valve body and the cooling system. Signs: jerks when shifting gears.

CHASSIS

The strong suspension of the Captiva does not throw up major problems.
